    This wild adventure explores uniquely Canadian animal portraits and environments. Grow in the confidence of knowing basic drawing materials and rendering accurate proportions with realistic details. Each class studies an animal such as the Atlantic Puffin, Canadian Horse, Polar Bear, Snowy Owl and Cougar, and the art of choosing good reference photos that capture spirit and personality. Colour theory, composition, design, personal style and expression are met with one-on-one direction and group critiques! Projects feature charcoal, ink and watercolour, soft pastel or water-soluble coloured pencils, to plan a complete series of works that can be merchandised into greeting cards or prints.     Realism drawing is the practice of depicting images ‘true to life’. In this course, you will work with charcoal or carbon pencils, a versatile medium that allows you to draw with the full range of values from black to light. Working step-by-step you will build up values and textures to produce a well considered drawing. Reference images will be provided by the instructor or of the student’s own choosing. The course will be supplemented by demonstrations, one on one support with the instructor as well as informal peer review of work. Materials not included.
