    Further develop your clay handbuilding skills while working on personal projects inspired by technique demonstrations. All work will be glazed and fired. You will receive one bag of clay per session, additional clay is available for purchase. Prerequisite for this course is the completion of Introduction to Clay Handbuilding or relatable clay experience. All work will be ready for pick up after the final class. Students will be contacted when work is ready for pick up. We do not have the capacity to store student’s work beyond 1 week following the class. Materials included.

    Working from your personal reference & from life, you will learn the foundations of representing the face and the human form and further develop your skills. Topics covered will include drawing features, getting accurate proportions, representing three-dimensional forms of the head and body, and capturing gestures. Demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and reference images will be provided by the instructor. Students can draw from reference images of their choice including images of friends, family, and loved ones. You will work from a live model during 2 weeks of this course. Materials not included.

    Learn to let go and let it flow! Experiment with advanced techniques to create work that has looseness and vibrancy without losing its shapes and contrasts. Learn techniques to hone composition, shape, hue and tonal balance while gaining confidence with big, bold brush strokes. At the end of this course, you will approach your paintings with much more freedom and courage, without fear of mistakes. Ian has over 20 years of experience and is the President of the International Watercolour Society -Canada (IWS-Canada). Bring your own/favourite watercolour materials.

    In this course students will learn to think, see, plan and approach the still life painting through a modern impressionist style. Students will experience how the contrasted warm and cool colours in their paintings express the effects and quality of light, how brush strokes, colour relationships, composition, values, and shapes play a part in achieving a strong visual statement. One of the main objectives of the course is to allow students to experience the creative process through the human eye and their senses so they are able to interpret the light, air, space and feeling they get from an image. Still life references and examples to famous artists and their works will be used throughout the course. Materials not included.
