Fostering creativity in childhood is essential to developing communication and language skills, problem-solving abilities, and improving self-esteem. Children will enjoy exploring drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and mixed media projects guided by the Elements & Principles of Art and Art History.     Manga is a Japanese art form seen in comic books and graphic novels. This course will teach students how to draw the manga way, then progress to showcasing their own characters and environments in small projects.

    Returning to VAM by popular demand, Canadian character designer Adam de Vries will inspire and teach kids to draw unique cartoon characters. Each week, students will learn and practice the steps towards drawing characters with expressions and personality leading up to a final drawing of their own unique character.
